James Hardie Partners with Habitat for Humanity® in San Gabriel Valley for Rebuild Efforts After California Wildfires
Supporting the Rebuilding of Resilient Homes for Altadena Families with Hardie®, TimberTech® and AZEK® Products
CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--James Hardie Building Products Inc. (James Hardie), the leader in exterior home and outdoor living solutions, today announced its commitment to San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity (SGV Habitat) to support their rebuilding efforts for the first 25 households impacted by last year’s devastating Eaton fire in Altadena, California. This effort builds on the company’s ongoing partnership with Habitat for Humanity International, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, underscoring a shared commitment to building stronger, more resilient communities.
To support the rebuilding of these homes as part of a multi-year effort, James Hardie has committed to donate its best-in-class fire resistant products including non-combustible* Hardie® fiber cement siding and top-rated fire resistant TimberTech® decking, AZEK® trim and fascia products.
“Our portfolio of resilient products is purposely designed and engineered to stand up to the harshest elements, and we are proud to support San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity in their rebuilding efforts after the devastating wildfire in Altadena,” said Amanda Cimaglia, Vice President of Global Sustainability at James Hardie.
“A home is more than a structure. It’s a place of refuge, stability and belonging. As extreme weather events become more frequent, a home’s exterior is its first line of defense – and resilient building materials play an increasingly important role in helping communities rebuild stronger to be better prepared for the future. James Hardie’s purpose is Building a Better Future for All, which includes developing innovative building solutions that help provide long-term protection and security for homeowners without compromising on design, durability, or the way people want to live.”
Habitat for Humanity Supports Altadena Community
Habitat for Humanity has a long history of helping communities recover from disasters, including hurricanes, floods and wildfires, and is committed to ensuring families – particularly those most vulnerable – have a secure and affordable place to call home. Following the Eaton fire in January 2025, SGV Habitat committed to supporting long-term recovery efforts, bringing together volunteers, donors and partners in this community.
“We’ve said from the start that this is not just about rebuilding homes. It’s about restoring hope, stability and a future,” said Bryan Wong, Chief Executive Officer with SGV Habitat. “We’re making strong progress to help this community move forward after devastating loss thanks to this donation from James Hardie.”
On March 27, 2026, SGV Habitat and James Hardie celebrated the completion of the first of 25 homes, marking a significant milestone in the rebuilding effort. The home designs are based on a pre-approved Foothill Catalog design, developed specifically for post-wildfire rebuilding to support faster construction and improved resilience.
“We strive to positively impact the communities where we operate, particularly when people and families are impacted by natural disasters. Our priority is to show up with our products, time and financial resources to rebuild in partnership with local organizations," said Molly Ernst-Alper, Global Director of Social Impact at James Hardie. "We believe in the power of community and are proud of our long-time partnership with Habitat for Humanity sharing the collective vision to ensure people and families have a decent and resilient place to live."

*Hardie® fiber cement products are noncombustible and/or have a Class A fire rating when tested in accordance with ASTM E84. Fiber cement fire resistance does not extend to applied paints or coatings, which may be damaged or char when exposed to flames. The use of noncombustible siding, combined with other fire mitigation measures, can help harden a home against external fire.
