CUPE Welcomes Clerical and Admin Workers at Toronto General Hospital
Toronto, ON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--On Wednesday, clerical and administrative workers chose to join Canada’s largest healthcare union. Over 960 clerical and administrative workers are represented in the new bargaining unit. 81% of votes were cast in favour of joining the union, sending a strong message that workers at TGH want a voice in their workplace. With their new union, they have won that.
“We’re really excited to get to work building our union together,” said Karla Hernandez, one of the new CUPE members. “Joining CUPE is going to help us improve things for ourselves and patients at Toronto General Hospital.”
CUPE represents over 800,000 workers across Canada, with over 90,000 healthcare workers in Ontario alone.
