MediaCo’s HOT 97 TV Channel to Launch March 31st in New York on WASA OTA and Spectrum

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MediaCo Holding Inc. (Nasdaq: MDIA) today announced the expansion of HOT 97 TV in its home market, launching over-the-air on WASA-TV on March 31st. WASA-TV will also continue to be available on Spectrum channels 811 and 1236 across the New York metro area.

Born in New York and built into one of the most influential brands in hip hop, HOT 97 has defined culture for decades with breaking artists, shaping conversations, and setting the soundtrack for the city. Now, that legacy continues to expand across television, streaming, and digital platforms.

HOT 97 TV brings the brand’s most iconic voices and franchises to screen, including:

  • Mornings with Mero - brings unmatched credibility, humor, and cultural connection from the most important daypart in radio to TV with the Bronx’s very own, Kid Mero
  • Nessa On Air - lively video series hosted by Gracie Award Winner, Nessa, with unfiltered celebrity interviews and real conversations about music, lifestyle, and pop culture
  • HOT 97 News - A two-hour daily live broadcast with the biggest national developments to real life in New York, diving into the stories shaping NYC’s neighborhoods
  • Funk Flex Freestyles - Hosted by the legendary Funk Flex, this series spotlights hip hop’s rawest and most iconic freestyle moments
  • Plus music, interviews, and original Afro-culture programming, with select content from TRACE

The expansion follows continued cultural momentum for the brand, including Funk Flex receiving the recent Entertainer’s Key to New York City, underscoring HOT 97’s enduring impact.

“This is a natural evolution of one of the most powerful brands in media,” said Kudjo Sogadzi, EVP, Content & Growth, MediaCo. “Expanding HOT 97 TV in New York allows us to meet our audience everywhere - on-air, on screen, and across platforms, while creating new opportunities for brands to engage with culture in real time.”

“New York is the foundation of HOT 97,” said Maire Mason, Vice President & General Manager, MediaCo Local Markets. “This launch gives advertisers direct access to a deeply engaged audience through a truly multiplatform solution spanning TV, audio, and digital.”

With distribution across OTA, cable, streaming, and digital, HOT 97 TV is part of MediaCo’s strategy to deliver one unified, culture-first platform at scale.
