LS Cable & System Announces Strategic Investment in Mexico to Expand North American Production Footprint
QUERÉTARO, Mexico--(BUSINESS WIRE)--LS Cable & System Ltd. (“LS Cable & System” or “LS C&S”) today announced a strategic investment of approximately USD 156 million in LS Cable & System, S.A. de C.V. (“LSCMX”), its manufacturing subsidiary located in Querétaro, Mexico. The investment will significantly expand production capacity and further strengthen the company’s integrated manufacturing and supply chain platform across North America.
The investment will transform LSCMX into a comprehensive energy and mobility manufacturing base serving the Americas. Key initiatives include expanding existing busduct production capacity to meet rapidly growing demand driven by AI data centers and large-scale power infrastructure, as well as constructing new automotive cable production lines to support both internal combustion and electric vehicle platforms.
According to Gisu Kim, Regional President of North America, LS Cable & System, Ltd., the investment represents a deliberate step in strengthening the company’s North American manufacturing platform. “By expanding production capabilities in Mexico and aligning them closely with U.S. operations, LS C&S is building a more resilient, responsive, and competitive supply chain to support growing demand across energy infrastructure, data centers, and automotive markets, while reinforcing its long-term commitment to customers and partners throughout the region,” he said.
Yaekyu Ji, CEO of LS Cable & System, S.A. de C.V., added: “This investment allows us to further strengthen the North American supply chain by integrating our operations in Mexico with our U.S. facilities. We are committed to providing reliable, high-quality production that supports the energy, mobility, and technology sectors, ensuring customers across the region have access to advanced solutions and timely delivery.”
This investment builds on a series of major investment commitments by LS Cable & System in North America:
- In April 2025, the company broke ground on LS GreenLink Phase 1 in Chesapeake, Virginia, a $681 million investment that includes a 750,000-square-foot advanced cable manufacturing facility, a 660-foot Vertical Continuous Vulcanization (VCV) tower, and a dedicated pier to support high-voltage direct current (HVDC) submarine power cable production, creating more than 330 jobs.
- In December 2025, LS Cable & System announced an additional investment in Chesapeake, Virginia, representing the largest capital investment in the history of the Hampton Roads region of Virginia, expected to create approximately 430 jobs and expand manufacturing capabilities in copper recycling, magnet wire manufacturing, and rare-earth magnet production, strengthening domestic supply chain security and supporting emerging energy and advanced technology sectors.
- In January 2026, the company announced a logistics center in La Porte, Texas to support its growing busduct and busway business across North America.
Patrick Y. Shim, Managing Director of LS Cable & System Ltd., commented: “These investments represent just the beginning of our North America expansion strategy. We expect to announce several more additional investments in the coming months that will further strengthen our production capabilities and supply chain in the region.”
Together, LS Cable & System’s investments in Mexico and the United States form an integrated regional production and logistics network designed to enhance customer responsiveness and mitigate global trade and supply-chain risks.
