Accelerate Learning Releases Free Guide to Help Educators Put the California Mathematics Framework into Practice

New guide shares practical examples for delivering engaging, equitable, and effective math instruction at the elementary, middle, and high school levels

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Accelerate Learning has published a new guide to help K-12 educators implement the Mathematics Framework for California Public Schools. The free guide, “Building the New California Math Classroom,” is available for download at acceleratelearning.com/math/california.

The quick-reference guide outlines strategies for applying the five instructional design components of the California Math Framework. It discusses how two proven mathematics curriculum solutions — Math Nation California and STEMscopes California Math — can help teachers plan teaching around Big Ideas, engage learners with open-ended tasks, teach toward math identity and community, invite student questions and conjectures, and prioritize reasoning and justification. It also provides examples of activities and resources tailored to the elementary, middle, and high school levels.

“Systemic change may begin with policy frameworks and state initiatives, but the real transformation happens through the day-to-day work of classroom teachers,” said Amanda McGee, chief curriculum officer at Accelerate Learning. “We’re excited to share this guide with math teachers and leaders to illustrate how to bring the California Math Framework to life at every grade level.”

Math Nation California and STEMscopes California Math were created to truly integrate all the instructional design components in the California Math Framework. The California State Board of Education approved the programs for statewide adoption in 2025.

Math Nation California is a comprehensive TK–12 core math curriculum built on Illustrative Mathematics. It integrates problem-based learning with a user-friendly Teacher Edition, multilingual Study Expert tutorials, and personalized digital tools to help all learners deeply understand and apply mathematical concepts.

STEMscopes California Math is a flexible TK – Algebra 1 math curriculum designed by teachers for teachers. It integrates real-world explorations, ready-made centers, and math discourse opportunities every day to deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction that supports all learners through the 5E plus Intervention and Acceleration lesson model.
