“I have received many blessings in my life and they can all be traced back to my upbringing on a farm here in southern Minnesota,” said Taylor. “With this latest gift, I can give back for years to come and make a positive impact on the lives of others in a region that I love so much.”

The Taylor Family Farms Foundation was created in 2023 with the purpose of enhancing rural communities through direct financial grants and by supporting the missions of three other nonprofit organizations: the Mankato Area Foundation (MAF), Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation (SMIF), and Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation (SPMF). In late 2023, Taylor gifted nearly $173 million of farmland to the Taylor Family Farms Foundation as the start of a charitable legacy plan. Millions of dollars of income generated from that farmland have since been used by all four organizations to support community-focused programs across the region.

The funding generated by the Taylor Family Farms Foundation has enabled MAF, SMIF and SPMF to advance their respective missions, with special emphasis given to the focus areas and geographies envisioned by Taylor. At the same time, the Taylor Family Farms Foundation has awarded grants in support of Taylor’s own passions, ranging from emergency medical services and food insecurity solutions to childcare programs and outdoor recreation. Taylor’s additional gift of more than $100 million will expand the impact of all four entities for generations into the future.

“The children and families of rural communities will always hold a special place in my heart because I have shared their experiences,” said Taylor. “I can think of no better way to create opportunities for them than by working in partnership with these amazing nonprofit organizations.”
