Silicon Creations and Chip Interfaces Announce Successful Interoperability for JESD204B/C, Interlaken, and CPRI
ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Silicon Creations, a leading provider of high-performance analog and mixed-signal IP today announced the successful validation of interoperability of Chip Interfaces’ JESD204B, JESD204C, Interlaken, and CPRI controllers with its Multi-Protocol SerDes PMA(s). This achievement was realized through Chip Interfaces’ controllers being loaded into an FPGA interfacing with a test board containing Silicon Creations’ SerDes PMA in packaged silicon. Testing took place at Silicon Creations’ Krakow, Poland lab, home to more than 130 analog, digital and test engineers. Seamless operation and integration were validated across multiple high-speed serial standards for all stated controllers.
The interoperability results — together with multiple customer tapeouts and proven silicon success in both planar and FinFET processes — further validate the compatibility, maturity, and design flexibility of both companies’ IP. This history of production-proven deployments gives customers strong confidence that the combined solutions will perform as expected in real-world systems.
In addition, Silicon Creations and Chip Interfaces collaborate closely and can provide customers with a fully integrated solution that pairs Silicon Creations’ PMA with Chip Interfaces’ digital controller IP. Delivering the PHY and controller as a pre-validated package reduces integration risk, engineering effort, and time-to-market, enabling customers to accelerate development of complex SoCs with greater predictability and lower engineering resource demands.
Markets Enabled by JESD204B, JESD204C, Interlaken, and CPRI
The interoperability of these technologies enables a wide range of markets represented below by protocol:
- JESD204B/C: Data converters for high-performance wireless infrastructure, radar, and instrumentation systems; Supports faster data movement between ADC/DACs and FPGAs or ASICs.
- Interlaken: Powers networking, switching, and data center solutions; Enables scalable high-speed interconnects across chip-to-chip and backplane applications.
- CPRI: Fronthaul communication in wireless and 5G base station designs; Provides reliable and deterministic links between radio equipment and baseband units.
Together, these standards enable designers to meet the demands of next-generation wireless, data center, and high-performance computing systems.
“Working with Chip Interfaces has been a smooth and productive collaboration,” said Jeff Lumish, Director of Digital Design at Silicon Creations. “Our Multi-Protocol PMAs integrate easily with Chip Interfaces’ JESD204,B/C Interlaken, and CPRI controllers — not only during our own lab demonstrations but also for customers deploying these solutions in production designs. The ease of interoperability accelerates development and helps ensure first-silicon success.”
“At Chip Interfaces, we place strong emphasis on interoperability and silicon-proven performance for our customers. Our interface (controller) IPs have been successfully taped out by our customers multiple times in combination with Silicon Creations’ PHYs, validating seamless operation across our entire portfolio. This enduring collaboration between Chip Interfaces and Silicon Creations underscores our mutual commitment to supporting customers in achieving first-time-right designs and accelerating their path from concept to production silicon,” said Anne Voss Winther, CEO of Chip Interfaces.
