International Dairy Queen Grows International Business in New and Existing Markets

Company to enter Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan; Grow DQ Restaurants in Qatar

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--International Dairy Queen, Inc. (IDQ), through its wholly owned subsidiary American Dairy Queen Corporation, a leader in the quick-service restaurant industry, today announced it has signed deals to open DQ® restaurants in new markets Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, and grow the number of DQ restaurants in Qatar. The deals commit to opening 187 DQ restaurants throughout the four markets as treat only and hot food and treat locations.

  • Hong Kong-based, Shanghai Dairy Queen Limited, will open 60 DQ restaurants in Hong Kong and 12 restaurants in Macau before 2034. Forty-eight will be treat locations and 24 will be hot food and treat locations.
  • Taiwan-based, SFB Corporation Limited along with Shanghai Dairy Queen Limited, will open and operate 100 new DQ restaurants in Taiwan before 2034. Seventy will be treat locations and 30 will be hot food and treat locations.
  • Qatar-based, Al-Majid Jawad W.L.L, will open 15 new DQ restaurants in Qatar by 2030, of which five will be treat locations and 10 will be hot food and treat locations. This deal adds to Al-Majid Jawad W.L.L’s existing 10 DQ restaurants in the country.

The first location to open under these new deals is in the world-renowned Taipei 101 tower in Taipei, Taiwan. The location opened Nov. 18 serving iconic DQ soft serve, including the world’s best-selling OREO® Cookie Blizzard® Treat and flavors developed to delight Taiwanese consumers including the Pistachio Flavor with Pistachio Crisp Blizzard Treat, Matcha Red Bean Blizzard Treat, Avocado Milkshake, and the world-famous DQ Cone – the cone with the curl on top®.

Additional DQ restaurants in these markets will begin opening in 2026.
