Boston IVF Chief Scientific Officer Denny Sakkas, PhD Receives Prestigious 2025 ASRM Distinguished Researcher Award for Lifetime Contributions to Fertility Research

Sakkas’ work has significantly advanced the understanding and practice of fertility care worldwide

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Boston IVF, a member of the global IVI RMA Network, and one of the nation’s leading reproductive service providers and long-standing pioneer in IVF research, today announced that Chief Scientific Officer Denny Sakkas, PhD has been awarded the 2025 American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) Distinguished Researcher Award, one of the most prestigious awards in reproductive medicine, at the ASRM Scientific Congress & Expo, October 25-29 in San Antonio, Texas.

This award recognizes Dr. Sakkas for his groundbreaking research that has shaped modern understanding of sperm DNA damage, fertilization, early embryo development, and male infertility, among other important breakthroughs. Over the course of his career, his discoveries have deepened the scientific foundation of reproductive medicine and improved clinical practices worldwide. Most recently, his pioneering work in live imaging of human embryos provided new insights into embryo metabolism and cell lineage, advancing the science and leading to better IVF outcomes.

Denny Sakkas, PhD, has been at the forefront of IVF since the early 1980s, driving research, leading innovation and advancing reproductive medicine forward with significant impact. He earned his PhD under Professor Alan Trounson at Monash University, one of the world’s foremost reproductive research centers. During this time, he contributed to several innovations that became standard practice in IVF laboratories worldwide. Over the course of his career, Dr. Sakkas directed research laboratories and served as Scientific and Laboratory Director at IVF centers across Europe, the UK, and the United States. His research continues to drive innovation in reproduction, spanning basic science, translational work, and commercial applications. He is currently an Associate Professor at Yale University School of Medicine, in addition to his role as Chief Scientific Officer at Boston IVF and IVIRMA North America.
