KCC Climate-Conditioned Models ‘Highly Commended’ by InsuranceERM

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Karen Clark & Company (KCC) is pleased to announce the company has won the “highly commended” designation in the Climate Regulatory and Reporting Solution of the Year category of the 2025 InsuranceERM Global Climate Risk & Sustainability Awards.

Since 2019, KCC scientists and insurance experts have worked closely with national and state regulators to raise awareness of the impacts of past climate change, as well as projected future impacts under different climate scenarios and over various time periods. In just the last three years, KCC climate experts have presented to over 225 regulators spanning 33 states.

“The KCC team is honored to receive this recognition, highlighting KCC’s commitment to providing the industry with the most up-to-date information on how climate change is impacting the weather and extreme events,” said Karen Clark, KCC Co-Founder and CEO. “KCC has advised state regulators and the NAIC, and KCC recommendations are incorporated into NAIC reporting requirements.”

KCC’s atmospheric peril models explicitly accounting for climate change impacts to date have already been approved for ratemaking in 30 states. Along with regulators, high-resolution output from these models is used by the world’s leading insurers, reinsurers, and ILS investors to quantify current risk, identify areas of increasing climate vulnerability, and evaluate resilience strategies.

“KCC works closely with insurers and regulators to ensure that rate filings based on KCC models are straightforward and well-understood by all parties,” said Glen Daraskevich, KCC Senior Vice President. “KCC scientists remain at the forefront of advancing climate science and applications for the insurance industry.”
