Bitwarden Wins “Password Management Solution of the Year” in 9th Annual Cybersecurity Breakthrough Awards

Prestigious annual awards program honors leading security companies and innovations worldwide

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today, Bitwarden, the trusted leader in password, secrets, and passkey management, announced that it has been selected as the winner of the “Password Management Solution of the Year” award in the 9th annual CyberSecurity Breakthrough Awards program. Conducted by CyberSecurity Breakthrough, an independent market intelligence organization, the annual program recognizes the most innovative companies, products, and technologies driving progress in the global information security industry.

Bitwarden delivers enterprise-ready, accessible, and trusted open source password management that protects digital identities with end-to-end, zero-knowledge encryption. Its solutions ensure organizations and individuals have seamless usability across web, desktop, mobile, and command-line interface (CLI), with features including inline autofill for credentials, cards, identities, passkeys, and password generation. The open source architecture enables peer review, community-driven innovation, and user confidence.

Bitwarden supports secure credential management with strong defaults across both cloud and self-hosted environments, including encrypted sharing through Bitwarden Send — even to those without a Bitwarden account. Access Intelligence equips users and IT teams with visibility into credential vulnerabilities and phishing risks, while Risk Insights identifies and enables remediation of weak or reused passwords.

Bitwarden introduced passkey support, Access Intelligence, and integrations with SIEM platforms such as Microsoft Sentinel, as well as security tools including Vanta and Rapid7. The company expanded identity integrations with SCIM provisioning across Enterprise and Teams plans and enabled SSO with trusted devices through providers such as Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, and other leading identity providers (IdPs). These updates strengthen access management, audit logging, and policy enforcement.

Bitwarden also launched a Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server to connect AI agents with password workflows via CLI, enabling policy-governed, zero-knowledge, end-to-end encrypted access through a local-first architecture.

The mission of the CyberSecurity Breakthrough Awards is to celebrate excellence and spotlight breakthrough innovation driving the global cybersecurity industry forward. Covering a wide range of categories – including Cloud Security, Threat Intelligence, Risk Management, Fraud Prevention, Mobile Security, Application Security, Identity Management, and more – the annual program highlights the solutions and organizations redefining how we safeguard the digital world.

The 2025 awards program received thousands of nominations from more than 20 countries, spanning disruptive startups to established global enterprises. This year’s winners represent the forefront of cybersecurity technology, delivering protection and resilience in today’s increasingly complex threat landscape.

“Bitwarden empowers individuals and organizations to adopt secure password practices at scale while raising the standard for credential management. Organizations are moving toward passwordless, identity-first security in the face of escalating threats and rising authentication complexity. Users, teams, and enterprises need a more dependable way to secure credentials,” said Steve Johansson, managing director, CyberSecurity Breakthrough. “Bitwarden leads the way to a safer internet by removing friction, lowering cost, and proving that security can be scalable, approachable, and rooted in transparency. We’re pleased to single out Bitwarden with ‘Password Management Solution of the Year!’”
