American Water Named on Forbes America’s Best Employers for Company Culture Inaugural List

Ranked No. 1 in water and wastewater utilities

CAMDEN, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--American Water (NYSE: AWK), the largest regulated water and wastewater utility company in the U.S., announced today that it has been named on Forbes America’s Best Employers for Company Culture 2025 list. The ranking is based on an independent survey of employees.

Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista and surveyed more than 218,000 employees at companies with at least 1,000 employees located in the U.S. Survey respondents were asked if they would recommend their employer to others and to rate it based on a range of company culture-related topics involving fairness, inclusivity and opportunity.

Statista analysts also did extensive research on each organization to assess company culture-related best practices, which was incorporated into each organization’s final score. The 600 companies with the highest scores made the new ranking. American Water placed first among water and wastewater utilities and sixth among all utilities.

In addition, American Water was also named on Forbes America's Best Large Employers 2025 list.
