Leostream Enhances Amazon WorkSpaces Core Managed Instances with Flexible Desktop Virtualization in the Cloud

Improves control, cost optimization, and global scalability for end-user computing on AWS

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Leostream Corporation, creator of the world-leading Leostream® Remote Desktop Access Platform, today announced support for Amazon WorkSpaces Core Managed Instances, enabling organizations greater flexibility, options, and power to deploy and manage virtual desktops on AWS infrastructure. With this integration, AWS customers can deliver multiple OS flavors, GPU-accelerated workloads, multi-user sessions, and more from Leostream’s powerful Remote Desktop Access Platform.

An extension of the Leostream platform’s rich features for Amazon environments, including EC2 high-performance workloads, this integration enables flexible VDI on AWS and a virtual desktop design and experience that best suits users. Administrators can offer pooled, hard-assigned, persistent, or non-persistent desktops in Windows, Linux, or macOS for a diverse range and mix of workloads including GPU-intensive, task-based, or multi-user sessions. Leostream’s orchestration layer simplifies management and helps optimize cloud costs while ensuring remote desktops and workstations take full advantage of AWS’ infrastructure power.

Other benefits of using the Leostream platform to manage desktops in WorkSpaces Core Managed Instances include:

Streamlined WorkSpaces Core Managed Instances with EC2

The Leostream platform manages both Amazon EC2 instances and WorkSpaces Core Managed Instances all within the AWS customer’s account. Administrators can manage scalability and performance across instance families (compute, memory, graphics) for global reach and high availability. Leostream’s provisioning and power management features eliminate idle capacity by powering down unused machines, scale resources up or down automatically, and schedule resource availability to control costs and eliminate over-provisioning.

Deliver Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise

WorkSpaces Core Managed Instances supports Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise, and with Leostream’s orchestration, organizations can deliver modern productivity tools with the same cost-control and scalability benefits they want from AWS. Leostream ensures end users have a reliable, consistent, simplified experience when accessing and using Microsoft 365 enterprise apps on top of AWS infrastructure.

Deep integration with Amazon DCV

Leostream uniquely integrates with Amazon DCV, AWS’s high-performance display protocol, to deliver secure, responsive access for users of demanding, graphics-intense applications such as engineering, scientific research, or media/entertainment. Leostream allows even global-scale enterprises to run Amazon DCV on virtual desktops and workstations for low-latency experiences across regions and manage GPU options for high-performance applications. AWS provides DCV at no additional charge for WorkSpaces Core Managed Instances.

Windows 11 and Multi-Session Possibilities

Organizations can now bring their own Windows 11 licenses to run desktops on Amazon WorkSpaces Core Managed Instances with Leostream. This capability allows IT teams to deliver a modern operating system experience while retaining full control within their own AWS accounts. Leostream’s orchestration and cost-management tools provide secure, high-performance desktops that align with user expectations and organizational requirements.

“Using the Leostream platform with Amazon WorkSpaces Core Managed Instances delivers an unrivaled mix of flexibility, performance, and cost control for VDI on AWS, and unlocks the full potential of desktop virtualization in the cloud,” said Leostream CEO Karen Gondoly. “You can choose your own adventure with the right operating system, protocol, and instance type for every user, rein in EC2 costs, provision cloud GPUs for the users that need them, and manage it all in your own AWS account. We don’t believe it’s hyperbole to say Leostream has the best remote desktop platform for Workspaces Core—it truly is.”
