Press Ganey Hosts 14th Annual Community Day

3,500 team members in 33 cities across 11 countries join forces globally to strengthen local communities

SOUTH BEND, Ind.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Press Ganey, a leading provider of experience measurement, data analytics, and insights, held its annual global Community Day on September 10. Each year, employees around the world step away from their daily responsibilities to volunteer with local nonprofits, strengthening the communities where they live and work.

An initiative Chairman and CEO Patrick T. Ryan started when he took the helm in 2012, Community Day has represented a $1 million annual pledge in volunteer hours and contributions, underscoring Press Ganey’s long-standing commitment to service. It now inspires team and individual service among Press Ganey’s growing global workforce of approximately 3,500 associates across 11 countries and in 33 cities globally.

This year also marked the 40th anniversary of Press Ganey’s founding in 1985 by then-Notre Dame professors Irwin Press and Rod Ganey. With more than 500 associates in South Bend, the company continues to give back to the community where it was born and maintains its largest base of employees in the U.S.

“Community Day reflects the core of our culture — thousands of colleagues around the world working together to serve and give back to the communities where we live to improve the human experience,” Ryan said. “Service has been part of our purpose since the very beginning, and it remains just as vital today as we celebrate our 40th anniversary and continue building for the future.”

At Press Ganey’s South Bend offices on Wednesday morning, Ryan was joined by Randy Miller of Unity Gardens and Marijo Martinec of the Food Bank of Northern Indiana — community leaders the company partners with annually—to address volunteers before they headed to their service assignments.

“Unity Gardens thrives on community support, and days like this show the power of people taking time out of their daily work lives and routines to come together,” Miller said. “Press Ganey’s volunteers help us expand access to healthy food and strengthen connections across South Bend.”

Volunteer efforts this year ranged from beach cleanups in San Diego and habitat restoration in Sydney, Australia, to service at the Regional Cancer Center in Trivandrum, India, the Ronald McDonald House in Kansas City, and the Diaper Bank of North Carolina in Charlotte, among many others.

Specifically, global Press Ganey volunteers :

  • Collected 43.2 kg (95 lbs) of waste from the Thames River in England and 15 bags of trash from San Diego’s Ocean Beach.
  • Filled two large rolling carts of yard waste at the Humane Society of St. Joseph County in South Bend.
  • Lifted 10,440 lbs of food and assembled 360 family boxes at the Greater Boston Food Bank, providing 8,700 meals — the equivalent of feeding two families of four for a year.
  • Packed and distributed hundreds of items for food pantries across the U.S., including Nourishing Hope and the Greater Chicago Food Depository in Chicago, the Ronald McDonald House and Food Bank of Northern Indiana, the Central California Food Bank, and others nationwide.
