Dr. Jeffrey N. Doucette to receive AONL Exemplary Leadership Award

Press Ganey Chief Nursing Officer will be recognized next week for advancing nursing leadership, professional practice, and the development of future nurse leaders

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jeffrey N. Doucette, DNP, RN, FAAN, Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer of Press Ganey, will receive the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) Exemplary Leadership Award on March 31.

The AONL Exemplary Leadership Award recognizes a nurse leader who has significantly influenced professional nursing practice, leadership, and the development of others across the field. Doucette will be recognized during the AONL Inspiring Leaders Conference in Chicago, where nurse leaders from across the country gather to advance leadership practice and improve healthcare delivery.

“Nursing excellence is built through consistent investment in leadership, culture, and the systems that support frontline teams,” Doucette said. “I’ve been fortunate to spend my career in a profession that is grounded in purpose and driven by people who show up every day to make care safer and more human. This recognition is deeply meaningful, and I see it as a responsibility to continue advancing the profession and supporting the next generation of nurse leaders.”

In his role at Press Ganey, Doucette leads global nursing strategy and thought leadership, with a focus on advancing quality, safety, and both patient and workforce experience, including efforts that support healthcare organizations in strengthening nursing excellence and pursuing Magnet® and Pathway to Excellence® designation.

Doucette founded the Press Ganey Nursing Center of Excellence and led the launch of the National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) for Ambulatory, expanding access to critical benchmarking data for outpatient care settings. Through this work, he has helped organizations better understand and act on the factors that shape nursing performance, engagement, and patient outcomes. He has also established partnerships with leading organizations to advance national benchmarks and inform nursing policy.

Prior to joining Press Ganey, Doucette served as the inaugural vice president of the Magnet Recognition® and Pathway to Excellence® programs, where he helped shape global standards for nursing excellence and professional practice environments. His work has consistently focused on elevating the role of nursing leadership in driving both clinical and organizational performance.

His leadership extends across the profession through active involvement with AONL, the American Academy of Nursing, and the American Nurses Association. He has also contributed to the field through editorial roles with leading nursing journals, helping to advance dialogue around leadership, workforce, and the future of nursing practice. He is the President of the Board of Directors at the Mazzoni Center in Philadelphia and an adjunct Associate Professor at Old Dominion University, Ellmer School of Nursing.

“Jeff’s leadership has had a meaningful impact on the nursing profession and on the organizations we serve,” said Nell Buhlman, Press Ganey’s Chief Strategy Officer. “He brings a deep commitment to advancing nursing excellence and supporting leaders at every level. We’re proud to see him recognized by the AONL for the impact he continues to make across the field.”
