Ontario Unions to Picket Ford Fest in Solidarity with WSIB Strike

ETOBICOKE, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Members of the Ontario Compensation Employees Union (OCEU/CUPE 1750), currently on strike, will be joined by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU/SEFPO), and other labour organizations today, June 13th, at Ford Fest 2025 in Centennial Park, Etobicoke.

The coordinated action comes as striking WSIB frontline staff enter over three weeks on the picket line, demanding fair wages, job security, and safer working conditions. With the Ford government continuing to ignore workers’ calls and outsourcing Ontario jobs to the U.S., union solidarity is growing, and now it’s going straight to the Premier’s doorstep.

Friday’s picket action at Ford Fest aims to shine a spotlight on a broader crisis: the Ford government’s pattern of attacking workers, undermining unions, and weakening the public services Ontarians rely on. Harry Goslin, President of OCEU/CUPE 1750 will join the Ontario Federal of Labour and unions across the province to demand action from the Government.

Where:

  • Centennial Park, 256 Centennial Park Rd, Etobicoke, ON M9C 5N3

When:

  • Friday, June 13, 2025
  • 5:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m.

“While the Premier throws a party to celebrate his government, thousands of frontline public service workers are being disrespected, underpaid, and pushed to the brink,” said Harry Goslin, President of OCEU/CUPE 1750. “We’re here to remind Premier Doug Ford that public service workers keep this province running, and we won’t be silent while he tears it down.”

The picket line will be visible at Centennial Park. Media are invited to attend and speak with union leaders and members on-site.
