Swisslog Healthcare Introduces UC30 Automated Tablet Counter for AutoPack

New add-on feature boosts efficiency in hospital pharmacies

BROOMFIELD, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Swisslog Healthcare, a leader in pharmacy and transport automation solutions, launches the UC30 Automated Tablet Counter, a new add-on feature for the AutoPack™ Automated Oral Solid Packager. This addition enhances the AutoPack's efficiency in hospital pharmacies, freeing up pharmacists for more patient-centric care.

AutoPack, an automated oral solid packager, supports up to 480 medications in a single packager. The UC30 Automated Tablet Counter provides fast and accurate tablet counting, streamlining operations and enabling a more efficient pharmacy workflow. It counts up to 240 tablets per minute, significantly speeding up the medication packaging process. This compact device, 45% smaller than its predecessor, features a user-friendly interface where operators enter the desired quantity for automatic counting.

“By eliminating the need for inefficient manual intervention, the UC30 allows hospital pharmacy staff to focus on high-value clinical tasks,” said Connie Vigil, Business Analyst at Swisslog Healthcare. “This automation not only saves time but also reduces the risk of human error in the counting process.”

The UC30 uses dedicated canisters and includes an LED indicator that signals completion. Its design allows for easy maintenance, with a removable chute that doesn’t require tools, ensuring hygienic operation. The UC30 complements AutoPack and integrates seamlessly with all models of canisters.

The AutoPack addresses several key challenges faced by hospital pharmacies. Its design allows for easy replacement of the main frame packaging unit, reducing downtime and boosting productivity. The system includes a standard Special Tablet System (STS) Tray and AutoCanisters™, which handle half tablets, infrequently used tablets, and tablets with special shapes. AutoPack comes in two styles with nine capacity options, ranging from 244-480 canisters, to fit various pharmacy needs.

The UC30 Automated Tablet Counter Is now available for hospitals across North America. More information can be found at https://www.swisslog-healthcare.com/en-us/products/pharmacy-automation/autopack-automated-oral-solid-packager.
