Mitel’s OpenScape Voice Solution Achieves JITC Certification Following Extensive Testing For Use By U.S. Department of Defense

Certification ensures placement on U.S. Department of Defense Information Network Approved Products List, and demonstrates that OpenScape Voice meets exceptional interoperability and security standards in mission-critical environments

BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mitel, a global leader in business communications, announced its OpenScape Voice platform has been tested for interoperability and information assurance by the U.S. Department of Defense Joint Interoperability Test Command. Subsequently, it has been included as a certified local session controller on the DOD Information Network Approved Products List.

JITC certification and DODIN APL placement demonstrate that OpenScape Voice, a carrier-grade enterprise communication solution, was successfully tested and evaluated against strict interoperability, availability, and cybersecurity standards. This includes multi-step testing for physical and virtual environments, security hardening, and achieving IPv6 Unified Capabilities Requirements.

Scalable to 100,000 users per system, OpenScape Voice delivers superior cybersecurity capabilities, including Assured Services SIP, the standard signalling protocol used within the DOD. Combined with additional JITC-tested components, including OpenScape Xpert and OpenScape Alarm Response, it provides robust call control functionality for a range of critical communications environments such as air traffic control, hospitals, and sensitive industrial facilities.

“Completing JITC testing for the OpenScape Voice solution is a significant accomplishment,” said Martin Bitzinger, senior vice president of product management at Mitel. “System security and interoperability are critical factors for organizations across public, and private sectors when evaluating communication systems. At Mitel, we are committed to delivering flexible, reliable, and secure solutions, and the success of this comprehensive testing shows that OpenScape Voice meets the high security standards of the United States Department of Defense.”

OpenScape Voice components tested by JITC include:

  • OpenScape Voice: This enterprise telephony software solution prioritizes security across all its interfaces. It protects call and conference audio, offers secure access for administration, and utilizes only encrypted connections within its ecosystem. The solution also includes event logging to monitor security-related actions, and security updates are integrated into the appliance model concept.
  • OpenScape Xpert: An optimal solution for managing time-critical, high-pressure decision-making. Its robust capabilities enhance team communication and collaboration, and support multi-line voice communication.
  • OpenScape Alarm Response: It simplifies and automates processes during unusual events, helping to reduce risk and empowering organizations and staff to take proactive measures.

Information assurance teams, led by JITC, successfully conducted the OpenScape testing with approval by the Defense Information Systems Agency Risk Management Executive. The JITC Global Network Test Facility at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, conducted the interoperability testing.

JITC certification and placement on the APL provide assessment results and risk information that mission-owning authorizing officials can leverage when authorizing a system. Following this testing and placement on the DODIN APL, other federal agencies, state and local governments, and enterprises and organizations around the globe can also be confident that OpenScape Voice provides the interoperability and security they require.
