Pine River Hires Former Southern Ridges Senior Portfolio Manager and J.P. Morgan Managing Director Abigail Smith

MINNETONKA, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pine River Capital Management L.P. (“Pine River” or the “firm”), a global relative value alternative asset manager, today announced that Abigail Smith joined the firm as a Portfolio Manager effective April 16, 2025. At Pine River, Smith will focus on relative value liquid rates strategies, particularly liquid rates trades along the mid-to-long end of the yield curve. She is based in the firm’s Minneapolis office and will work alongside liquid rates Portfolio Managers Matthew Abroe and Andy Arnott.

Prior to joining Pine River, Smith spent two years as a Senior Portfolio Manager at Southern Ridges Capital, where she managed a portfolio focused on discretionary macro and relative value trading. Before that, she held various roles at J.P. Morgan from 2008 to 2022, including most recently serving as a Managing Director focused on interest rate swaps trading.
