Jabil Launches 1.6T Pluggable Transceiver to Support Growing Demand for Intra-Data Center and AI Connectivity

Company to demo the solution and other photonics products at OFC 2025

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jabil Inc. (NYSE: JBL), a global engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing solutions provider, today announced the launch of its 1.6T transceivers, which can transmit data at rates up to 1.6 Terabits per second. These transceivers join Jabil’s expanding portfolio of photonics products to meet the accelerating demand for AI/ML workloads, high-performance computing (HPC), cloud computing, and high-speed data center interconnects.

These transceivers are highly efficient and can effectively double the bandwidth capacity of data center racks without requiring modifications to existing infrastructure.

The 1.6T transceiver is built using an Intel® Silicon Photonics engine. It can reach speeds of 200 Gigabits per lane on both its electrical and optical interfaces and will be available in DR8, DR8+, and 2xFR4 variants to support intra-data center connectivity. These transceivers are highly efficient and can effectively double the bandwidth capacity of data center racks without requiring modifications to existing infrastructure.

Jabil’s 1.6T transceivers maintain the extraordinary reliability of the company’s current-generation 400G and 800G products, also based on Intel® Silicon Photonics technology, while offering among the lowest power consumption in the market.

"Today’s AI and data center technologies need powerful photonics capabilities that can keep up with the pace of innovation. We’re proud to have a product based on a proven silicon photonics solution that can make a real impact for businesses pushing the boundaries of what’s possible," said Matt Crowley, Executive Vice President, Global Business Units at Jabil.

For more than a decade, Jabil has been a leader in new photonics product introduction and scalable manufacturing. The Jabil team provides support from silicon to solutions — reducing time to market for customers in telecommunication, data communications, and artificial intelligence (AI) by designing advanced photonics packaging and systems and developing amplifiers, transceivers, and laser packages, as well as optical networking products and liquid cooling solutions.

Jabil at the 2025 OFC Conference and Exhibition

Jabil’s 1.6T pluggable transceiver will be available for demos by appointment only at booth 5845 at the 2025 Optical Fiber Communications Conference and Exhibition (OFC), April 1–3, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California. Additionally, Jabil thought leaders will join various speaking sessions to discuss the manufacturing and scalability of products like co-packaged optics, advanced packaging and integrated optics, and enabling volume photonic ICs for AI networks.
