Hurricane Electric Expands Global Network in The Midwest With New Point of Presence at Ridgeview in Minnetonka, Minnesota

Second Point of Presence in the Minneapolis metropolitan area will provide additional high-speed connectivity

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone, announced today that it has deployed a new Point of Presence (PoP) in Ridgeview Minnetonka in Minnetonka, MN. The new PoP is located at 12450 Wayzata Blvd, 1 Floor, Suite 110, Minneapolis (Minnetonka) MN 55305.

This data center has reliable AC and DC power, UPS, multiple backup generators, 24-7 security and technical support, and a network connection to the Midwest Internet Cooperative Exchange (MICE), one of the largest independent internet exchanges in the country. It is located 21 miles from the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport, and ten miles from downtown Minneapolis.

Designated an official Tech Hub by the White House in 2023, due to its robust healthcare technology infrastructure, Minneapolis is a Midwest leader in technology and innovation. The metropolitan area is home to the headquarters of 19 major corporations and has been ranked as one of the best places to start a business in the country.

This PoP is Hurricane Electric’s second location in Minneapolis and fourth location in Minnesota. It will provide the Midwest with improved fault tolerance, load balancing, and congestion management in the delivery of next-generation IP connectivity services.

“By establishing a new point of presence in Minneapolis, we're investing in the city's growing tech ecosystem and providing local businesses with the robust connectivity they need to succeed,” said Mike Leber, President of Hurricane Electric. “Minneapolis is a dynamic center for innovation, and we're proud to be expanding our network there."

Customers of Ridgeview Minnetonka and in and around Minneapolis, MN have a variety of new connectivity options and access to Hurricane Electric’s extensive IPv4 and IPv6 network through 100GE (100 Gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 Gigabit Ethernet) and GigE (1 Gigabit Ethernet) ports.
