The inaugural program invites film lovers to designate their own “Film of the Year”

New York, NY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--USA TODAY, part of Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI), officially launched the first-ever USA TODAY Movie Meter, a new platform that empowers movie enthusiasts to rate which film they believe deserves to be awarded “Film of the Year.” Placing emphasis on the opinions of everyday movie lovers, USA TODAY Movie Meter gauges audience sentiment towards the esteemed films nominated in the Best Picture category by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for the Academy Awards.

Today through March 3, 2025, at 1 a.m. EST, Movie Meter participants can register, watch the 10 Oscar-nominated trailers and rate all the eligible movies on a scale from 1-5 to determine USA TODAY’s inaugural Movie Meter winner. The Movie Meter winner will be announced live on "NBC's TODAY" and on moviemeter.usatoday.com the morning of March 3.

“We are excited to officially launch the inaugural USA TODAY Movie Meter program, building upon the success of the beloved USA TODAY Ad Meter platform,” said USA TODAY Movie Meter Editor, Rick Suter. “As we aim to amplify the opinions of our audience across the USA TODAY Network, we look forward to seeing the public’s sentiment among this year’s most acclaimed films.”
