Priority Health Appoints Longtime Executive to Oversee Government Markets

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Priority Health, a nationally recognized health plan serving more than 1.3 million members, has appointed Carrie Kincaid to oversee government markets for the organization; she will maintain her position as senior vice president of market development.

In her expanded role, Kincaid will oversee the Individual, Medicare Advantage and Medicaid businesses, as well as population health and health equity. She has been with Priority Health for more than 18 years.

“Carrie has extensive experience in government markets and is well positioned to lead in this area, having previously served as our vice president of Individual markets,” said Praveen Thadani, president/CEO of Priority Health. “Her knowledge, expertise and passion for improving the health and well-being of others makes her a perfect fit for this role.”

Kincaid joined Priority Health in 2006 to help lead the newly created market research and market intelligence team that was instrumental during Priority Health’s acquisition of Care Choices in Southeast Michigan and most recently the acquisition of Physicians Health Plan of Northern Indiana. She then transitioned to the Individual team where she led the preparation and strategy for the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in 2010. She also oversaw the development and launch of innovative virtual-first Telehealth PCP plans in 2020, making Priority Health among the first health plans in the country to offer virtual-first products.

“I have spent the better half of my career at Priority Health, and I am honored to take on this expanded role,” said Kincaid. “I look forward to continued innovation and serving our members and communities with high-quality, highly rated products.”

In addition to her leadership role with Priority Health, Kincaid is actively involved in several community organizations, including serving on the board for the Metropolitan Affairs Coalition and as an advisory board member in the Seidman College of Business at Grand Valley State University. She is a graduate of Alma College and earned an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from Grand Valley State University.

Joyce Chan Russell, who served as senior vice president of government markets for Priority Health since 2021, stepped down to spend more time with her family.
