Affinity Plus Takes the Plunge to Support Special Olympics Minnesota

Minnesota-Based Credit Union’s Annual Jump-Start Campaign Kicks Off January 7

ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union is excited to announce the return of its Polar Plunge jump-start campaign, kicking off on January 7th. The annual jump-start campaign provides plungers with a $50 donation to aid in their $75 fundraising minimum. In the four years since the start of the jump-start campaign, it has contributed more than $350,000 to Special Olympics Minnesota’s inclusion movement.

“We’re thrilled to bring back the jump-start campaign for another plunge season, which continues to raise support for our incredible partner, Special Olympics Minnesota,” said Adam Layne, Community Engagement & Business Development Manager at Affinity Plus. “The Polar Plunge is a fun and challenging way to make a difference in the lives of athletes with intellectual disabilities across Minnesota.”

The first 1,800 plungers who register for any of the more than 25 Polar Plunge events across Minnesota using the promo code AFFINITYPLUS will receive a $50 boost towards their fundraising goal. The jump-start campaign makes taking the plunge easier than ever by jump-starting plungers’ individual fundraising campaigns.

“The support from Affinity Plus and their members has been invaluable to Special Olympics Minnesota,” said Bill Fish, President & CEO at Special Olympics Minnesota. “Since 2021, more than 6,000 plungers have used the Affinity Plus jump-start code which has helped propel the Polar Plunge forward.”

This year also marks the third year in a row that Affinity Plus is further supporting Special Olympics Minnesota by expanding Polar Plunge events to Minnesota college campuses. For the first time, St. Cloud State University will invite community members and students to help raise awareness for Special Olympics Minnesota and take the plunge right on campus. The plunge will also be returning this year to Bemidji State University, Minnesota State University Moorhead, and Winona State University.
