TelevisaUnivision Brings Together Latin Media and Artists for Annual Promesa y Esperanza® Fundraiser Supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Event raised more than $5.3 million for St. Jude families

MEMPHIS, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The annual St. Jude Promesa y Esperanza® (Promise and Hope) event on Dec. 5 and 6 brought together members of Hispanic media and Latin music stars to support the lifesaving mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®: Finding cures. Saving children®.

Uforia, iHeart and WAPA Media Group radio stations teamed up with celebrities and social media influencers to encourage listeners to become Ángeles de Esperanza (Angels of Hope) by making a monthly donation of $19 to St. Jude, for which donors receive the exclusive ‘This Shirt Saves Lives’ t-shirt. Univision’s radio and TV partners promoted the shirt, worn by celebrities and artists like Fey, Jacqie Rivera, Ricardo Muñoz, Grupo Intocable, Luis Fonsi, Óscar Iván Treviño, Grupo Duelo, Diana Reyes, Bobby Pulido and Energía Norteña, and shared across their social media platforms to encourage audiences to support the impactful, global work of St. Jude. The broadcast event reached listeners in 15 markets like Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Puerto Rico and more.

“For decades, the St. Jude Promesa y Esperanza community has made a major impact. The funds raised by these incredible supporters allow St. Jude to continue advancing research and treatment of childhood cancers and other catastrophic diseases to help families everywhere,” said Richard C. Shadyac Jr., President and CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “We are deeply grateful to our media partners for sharing the stories of our young patients and to every listener who was moved to give so that every child gets a chance to live their best life.”

Thanks to events like Promesa y Esperanza, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing, or food so they can focus on helping their child live.

“As the largest Spanish-language audio network in the country, we have the ability to reach millions of people daily. We are proud to be part of the process that ensures the success of the St. Jude mission – one that is deeply embraced by our audience in a genuine heartfelt way,” said Ismar SantaCruz, SVP, Radio Content, TelevisaUnivision/Uforia. "We have deep gratitude for our talent and artists like Fey and Jacqie Rivera, who participated in this year’s broadcast and are part of the team of the true heroes – our audience who chose to become Ángeles de Esperanza.”

Become an Ángel de Esperanza by donating $19 a month, or for more information, visit www.stjude.org/camiseta.
