Aalyria selected by Defense Innovation Unit to enhance swarm connectivity for defense applications.

LIVERMORE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aalyria, a leader in aerospace network technology, has been selected by the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) from among 130 proposals for the Opportunistic, Resilient & Innovative Expeditionary Network Topology (ORIENT) contract. Aalyria will play a key role in advancing resilient command and control (C2) for all domain attritable autonomous (ADA2) systems in support of the Replicator initiative.

The software technology utilized under ORIENT will connect robust long-haul communications to local mesh networks, ensuring Replicator can continue to operate as a system of systems, even in disrupted, low-bandwidth environments. Aalyria’s Spacetime software platform is capable of maintaining robust, secure, and resilient connectivity across complex environments, enabling true resilient communications for DoD networks. Spacetime also ensures seamless network performance to, from, and within swarms of attritable unmanned systems operating across air, land, and sea domains.

"DIU's selection of our Spacetime platform for the ORIENT project underscores DoD’s commitment to using the best technologies available to win," said Chris Taylor, CEO of Aalyria. "It also demonstrates the breadth of capability of Spacetime - all-domains, all the time."

Spacetime excels in conditions that require high resilience and adaptability. It offers features such as orchestration of steerable antennas and free space optical communications terminals, proactive radio resource management and jamming mitigation, and networking situational awareness UIs and APIs for human and enterprise applications. These capabilities are designed to support dynamic and secure communications within autonomous vehicle swarms, ensuring operational continuity even during network failures.

"Spacetime isn’t just designed for the space domain; it excels at orchestrating any network where the spatial coordinates of the infrastructure are changing over time – across land, sea, air, or space." explained Brian Barritt, CTO of Aalyria. "Our platform's ability to ensure low-latency, secure, and enduring communications across both line-of-sight and beyond-line-of-sight conditions will significantly enhance the operational capabilities of DoD's autonomous platforms."
