Lieutenant General John Evans Joins Academy Securities’ Advisory Board and Geopolitical Intelligence Group

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Academy Securities, the nation’s first Post-9/11 veteran owned and operated investment bank, today announced the addition of Lieutenant General John Evans to its Advisory Board and Geopolitical Intelligence Group.

Lieutenant General John Evans retired from the US Army in 2024 after a distinguished 36-year career, including over 8 years in general officer command. His military service culminated as Commanding General of US Army North, where he led homeland defense initiatives, protected critical infrastructure, and directed the Department of Defense response to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021. He also spearheaded Operation Allies Welcome, supporting the resettlement of over 74,000 Afghan refugees. General Evans previously commanded the US Army Cadet Command, overseeing over 975 senior ROTC programs at colleges and universities and 1,700 junior ROTC programs at high schools. He also led the Army’s Special Operations Aviation Command, managing $3 billion in military aircraft development programs and deploying elite helicopter forces worldwide.

“We are thrilled to welcome General Evans to our Advisory Board,” stated Academy’s Chairman and CEO Chance Mims. “His extraordinary leadership in homeland defense, special operations, and strategic problem-solving will greatly enhance our team’s expertise and impact.”

General Evans commented on joining the firm: “I'm honored to join this veteran-led team that operates on the leading edge of our capital markets despite the ambiguity and challenges of our time. In a world that is increasingly complex, Academy Securities clearly defines risk, seizes opportunities, and places their clients in position to achieve their financial goals with efficiency and effectiveness.”

General Evans holds master’s degrees in education from Kansas State University and in national security from the US Naval War College. He is also a resident Federal Executive Fellow of the Brookings Institution and holds a Certificate in Public Leadership from Washington University’s Olin School of Business.

“General Evans’ leadership and expertise in aviation and critical infrastructure defense, combined with his experience as a trusted advisor, make him an invaluable addition to our Advisory Board,” stated Academy’s President Phil McConkey.
