Breathe Right® Partners with Elizabeth Earnshaw, Renowned Relationship Expert, to Reveal New Survey Findings on Sleep Divorce, Highlight Advantages of ‘Stripping Together and Sleeping Together’

A new survey finds that despite its rising popularity, sleep divorce may not suit every couple.

Together, Breathe Right and Earnshaw aim to encourage couples dealing with nighttime nasal congestion to try solutions like nasal strips before taking the leap to sleep in separate bedrooms.

PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Foundation Consumer Healthcare (FCH), the makers of Breathe Right® nasal strips, today announced a partnership with renowned marriage and family therapist, relationship expert and author Elizabeth Earnshaw (@LizListens), to reveal new survey findings on the impact of ‘sleep divorce,’ and encourage couples dealing with snoring and nighttime nasal congestion to ‘strip’ before bed. Inspired by user reviews suggesting the nasal strips “saved my marriage,” Breathe Right and Earnshaw aim to generate awareness of options like Breathe Right nasal strips before couples opt for separate bedrooms, a concept that has become a mainstream topic of conversation in recent years.

According to a new survey conducted by the makers of Breathe Right, 61% of sleep divorced couples say that snoring is the #1 challenge to getting a good night’s sleep, and 52% of respondents who sleep separately wish they slept in the same bed as their partner. Conversely, 84% of women and 78% of men who sleep in the same bed report feelings of comfort and safety. Moreover, 71% of survey respondents considering the idea of sleep divorce expressed interest in trying products to improve their experience of sleeping in the same bed as their partner, 1 before they call it quits.

The survey also showed that many couples who are considering sleep divorce haven’t yet tried any products to help their sleep experience, but of those who have, some have turned to medicated sleep aids.

As an alternative, Breathe Right nasal strips offer up to 12 hours of drug-free, continuous nasal congestion relief to help people get the good night’s sleep they deserve. The strips work by opening the nose for nasal congestion relief that can be felt right away.

“In my practice I find that sleeping separately may benefit some couples, but we know that it can also have a negative impact on relationship health and can contribute to feelings of loneliness and disconnect for many. However, the impact of sleep quality on all facets of life cannot be overstated,” says Elizabeth Earnshaw, LMFT, CGT. “As a marriage and family therapist, my goal is to help couples work through issues together and rediscover connection. Solutions like Breathe Right are a helpful tool for those dealing with snoring and nighttime nasal congestion and who want to continue sleeping with their partner long-term.”
