AHN’s Premier Medical Associates Expands Use of Innovative, Clinical-decision Support Software

MedsEngine’s hypertension module will aid Premier clinicians in the care of hypertensive patients

DAYTON, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MedsEngine announced today that Allegheny Health Network’s (AHN) Premier Medical Associates has further expanded its use of its clinical decision support software solution, also known as MedsEngine, to include its hypertension module.

MedsEngine, which is integrated with AHN’s Epic electronic health record (EHR) system, delivers real-time, personalized medication recommendations which aids providers in making the best possible treatment decisions in the care of patients with chronic diseases.

According to the CDC, 119.9 million adults in the U.S., or approximately 48% of the population, have high blood pressure, also known as hypertension. However, only about 27 million adults have their condition under control.

Last year, AHN announced the first live integration between MedsEngine and Epic including specialized modules for patients with Type 2 Diabetes and/or high cholesterol. This latest integration allows primary care clinicians at Premier to utilize MedsEngine software in caring for hypertensive patients.

“MedsEngine has been pleased to assist Premier for the last several years in improving the health outcomes of thousands of their patients living with chronic conditions,” said Douglas Romer, MD, chief medical officer, MedsEngine. “With this latest addition of the hypertension module, Premier caregivers will be even better equipped to care for the many patients who struggle to manage high blood pressure.”
