Susan G. Komen® to Unite Communities Across the U.S. at 3-Day, MORE THAN PINK Walk and Race for the Cure events this Fall

Together for a Cure: Fundraising Events Will Further Breast Cancer Research and Support Patients Now

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Susan G. Komen®, the world's leading breast cancer organization, is excited to announce 43 locations for the 2024 Susan G. Komen 3-Day, MORE THAN PINK Walk, Race for the Cure and the virtual Walk Where You Are events. From August through November, these events provide a welcoming space for survivors, supporters and advocates to unite as a community and raise critical funds to advance Komen’s mission.

Since Komen’s inception in 1989, it has invested more than $1 billion in research, which has contributed to a 42% reduction in the breast cancer mortality rate. Despite these significant advancements, challenges remain. One in eight women in the U.S. will face a breast cancer diagnosis in their lifetime, and experts estimate that one-third of breast cancer deaths in the U.S. could be prevented with universal access to modern treatments.

“Every 2 minutes, a woman in the U.S. hears the words, ‘You have breast cancer,’ and that must change,” said Paula Schneider, president and CEO of Susan G. Komen and 17-year breast cancer survivor. "While we’ve made astounding progress in the breast cancer field, there is still so much work to be done before we can find the cures needed to eradicate this devastating disease. The 3-Day, MORE THAN PINK Walk, Race for the Cure and Walk Where You Are events are not only vital to our mission, but they create a safe, supportive space for the breast cancer community to find strength and inspiration. In the past year, Komen has delivered over $11 million in financial support and 52,000 essential services to more than 38,000 patients nationwide through our Patient Care Center. This tremendous impact is made possible by the unwavering dedication of our participants, supporters, and partners. Together, we can end breast cancer—action from all of us is essential."

Participants of the 3-Days, MORE THAN PINK Walk or Race for the Cure events include breast cancer survivors, co-survivors, individuals living with metastatic breast cancer, friends, family and other supporters. For those unable to participate in an in-person event, Komen is also holding a virtual walk event called “Walk Where You Are.” These events create opportunities to support those who have been impacted by breast cancer.
