HealthTrust Performance Group Announces Executive Appointments

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--HealthTrust Performance Group, a leading improvement organization for healthcare with decades of experience in supply chain optimization, today announced two executive appointments.

Guy W. Wagner has been promoted to senior vice president of strategic sourcing. Wagner joined HealthTrust in 2014 and most recently served as vice president of strategic sourcing for commercial products and services. In this role, Wagner will oversee strategic sourcing and distribution of GPO products and services supporting surgery, nursing, laboratory, wound care, anesthesia and respiratory care. He will also oversee the administration of the Supply Chain Board and Clinical Advisory Boards.

Wagner holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Centre College and a Master of Business Administration in International Business from Xavier University. He serves as the Steering Committee Chair for the Healthcare Group Purchasing Industry Initiative (HGPII).

“Since coming to HealthTrust from the automotive industry, where he specialized in purchasing strategy for major global brands, Guy has continually exhibited a solid vision, excellent leadership and the ability to create value,” said Michael Berryhill, president of GPO Operations at HealthTrust. “Guy and his teams consistently exceed improvement goals to the benefit of our membership. His market knowledge and execution of supply chain strategy will be extremely helpful as we work to strengthen portfolios and build resiliency.”

HealthTrust also welcomed Young Fried, PharmD, to the organization as senior vice president of business development and pharmacy services. She assumes responsibility for IHP—HealthTrust’s GPO division administering contracts for products and services in the areas of insurance, human resources and pharmacy.

Fried is a 25-year veteran in directing medical and pharmacy benefit plans in both clinical and administrative management positions. She joins HealthTrust from Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, where she was vice president of pharmacy services. Prior to Wellmark, she formed an in-house PBM for a national third-party administrator, and served as chief pharmacy officer at Cigna US Medical as the executive clinical leader responsible for formulary and clinical product management.

In welcoming Fried, Berryhill stated, “Young’s strong clinical pharmacy experience and leadership capabilities, along with her proven track record in leading, building and executing strategic business plans, make her the ideal candidate to lead our IHP business unit. We are excited to have her in this role.”

Young earned a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Illinois, Chicago and her Master of Science in Applied Pharmacoepidemiology from the University of Florida.
