Jeff McDermott Joins Energy Impact Partners as Head of Strategic Finance

Former Global Co-Head of Nomura Investment Banking and Founder of Greentech Capital Advisors will provide strategic finance advice and insights to EIP and its portfolio

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Energy Impact Partners (“EIP”), a global technology investor specialized in the energy transition, today announced that Jeff McDermott has joined its leadership team as Partner and Head of Strategic Finance.

McDermott will help EIP and its portfolio of more than 100 companies with advice on financial strategy and operations, leveraging his extensive experience in investment banking to drive financial growth and capital efficiency.

"We are thrilled to welcome Jeff to our team. As the energy transition and demand for clean energy is picking up pace, the need for capital and collaboration only increases. Jeff’s vast experience and strategic insight will be invaluable for us and our portfolio on this journey," said Hans Kobler, Founder and Managing Partner at EIP.

Prior to EIP, McDermott was Global Co-Head of Investment Banking at Nomura Securities International, Inc., and Founder of Nomura Greentech. He established Greentech in 2009 and developed it into one of the leading investment banks specializing in the energy transition. Greentech focused exclusively on strategic M&A and capital raising for companies focused on the megatrends of decarbonization, digitization and resource efficiency, and was acquired by Nomura in 2020. Throughout his notable career, McDermott held pivotal roles at UBS, Salomon Brothers / Citigroup, and Drexel Burnham Lambert.

"EIP’s talent, culture, and business model have created a leading investment manager in the energy transition,” said McDermott. “I’m a strong believer in connecting innovators with incumbents to drive the energy transition in a capital-efficient and profitable manner. The collaboration between EIP’s portfolio companies and strategic LP base is unique and a key element of EIP’s competitive advantage. I look forward to bringing my 15 years of energy transition M&A and capital raising experience and deep relationship network to benefit EIP, its portfolio companies, and LPs."
