Northwell Health’s Dr. Stacey E. Rosen named President-elect of the American Heart Association for 2024-2025

NEW HYDE PARK, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The American Heart Association (AHA), the world’s leading nonprofit organization focused on heart and brain health for all, has named Northwell Health’s Stacey E. Rosen, MD, senior vice president of women’s health and executive director of the Katz Institute for Women’s Health (KIWH) as its 2024-2025 volunteer President-elect.

Dr. Rosen, a practicing cardiologist for over 30 years, will formally take the helm as president in July 2025. As volunteer President-elect, she will support the AHA’s newly announced president, providing guidance and insight, and helping to direct the overall initiatives of the 35 million volunteers and supporters of the AHA.

For more than 30 years, Dr. Rosen has been a passionate AHA volunteer, offering her time, clinical expertise and advocacy in advancing the mission of the AHA. Dr. Rosen has served in leadership roles at the local, regional and national level, including the National Board of Directors. Dr. Rosen currently serves on the AHA’s International Committee, NYC Board of Directors and NYC Medical Advisory Committee. With a career focused on the cardiovascular health of women, Dr. Rosen is passionately engaged in the AHA’s Go Red for Women initiative. In 2018, Dr. Rosen received the AHA Women in Cardiology Mentoring Award; and in 2021, she received the AHA’s Physician of the Year Award.

Dr. Rosen oversees Northwell’s Katz Institute for Women’s Health. Its mission is to enhance women's health throughout their lives, bridging the gap between wellness and personalized care delivery. With a dedicated focus on women, the Katz Institute offers comprehensive healthcare and sets the standards for excellence in patient-centered women’s healthcare. It also serves as a convener and amplifier for all of Northwell’s women’s health initiatives, including supporting sex- and gender-specific research, providing expert, coordinated clinical care, and educating the community on prevention and well-being.

She is a sought-after expert in the cardiology and women’s health space. In 2023, she was the recipient of the 2023 WomenHeart Wenger Award for Excellence in Medical Advocacy. She co-authored the book Heart Smarter for Women: Six Weeks to a Healthier Heart, which was published in 2022, and co-produced the documentary Ms. Diagnosed, which premiered at the Cinequest film festival in 2020. And most recently, Dr. Rosen was named to Modern Healthcare’s 2024 Top 50 Clinical Executives.
