UKG: May’s Workforce Activity is Good News for Main Street

Live labor market briefing June 5 at 10:00 a.m. ET to analyze frontline workforce trends across industries, business-size segments

LOWELL, Mass. & WESTON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--UKG:

Summary:

Workforce activity increased 0.5%, marking the fourth consecutive month of gains, according to the May 2024 Workforce Activity Report published by UKG. The report is particularly good news for small businesses on Main Street, as smaller organizations outperformed larger organizations in May. This data follows a recent UKG Workforce Institute survey finding that 74% of employed Americans would prefer to work for a smaller business over a larger business.

UKG will discuss current and potential trends shaping the frontline economy on June 5, at 10:00 a.m. ET, including:

  • Why smaller businesses are starting to show signs of strength;
  • Why recent consistency in the UKG index should be positive news for the labor market;
  • What employees and job seekers can expect, as we approach the summer; and
  • What to expect from Friday’s BLS jobs report.

Register to attend the live briefing.

Significance:

The UKG Workforce Activity Report is a high-frequency index analyzing shift work trends from 4.5 million people across 40,000 U.S. businesses to understand the economy. Reports are published and briefings are held each Tuesday prior to the publication of the BLS Employment Situation Report. Upcoming publication schedule:

  • June 2024 Workforce Activity Report: July 2, 2024
