LIBERTY NETWORKS FURTHER EXPANDS IN LATIN AMERICA WITH NEW POINTS OF PRESENCE

• New locations in Mexico and Guatemala will strengthen network coverage to meet the fast-growing demand of traffic between the U.S. and Central and South America
• GD-1 and LN-1 Pan-Regional Subsea Cable System will complement new Points-of-Presence expansion

MIAMI, FL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Liberty Networks, a leading infrastructure and enterprise connectivity provider in Latin America and the Caribbean, part of Liberty Latin America (LLA), announced today at Capacity LATAM 2024 that it has activated two new regional Points-of-Presence (PoP) in Merida, Mexico and Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. The new Points-of-Presence will provide high-speed IP Transit, DDOS Protection, MPLS, and Ethernet services to content providers, wholesalers, and enterprises in the metropolitan areas of Merida and Quetzaltenango.

With the new additions, Liberty Networks will reach 94 wholesale PoPs, expanding its reach. The company's operation provides the backbone for connectivity across the region through an extensive footprint connecting approximately 40 countries, with nearly 50,000 kilometers of submarine fiber optic cable and 17,000 kilometers of terrestrial networks. This strategic expansion prioritizes customer experience by placing crucial network nodes closer to businesses, improving reliability and performance for critical operations, and delivering faster data transfer speeds for a seamless user experience.

"The new PoPs in Mexico and Guatemala are a significant step towards expanding network coverage across the region. We continue to invest in critical connectivity infrastructure as part of our $250 million investment plan over the next five years that we announced last year," said Ray Collins, Liberty Latin America's SVP of Infrastructure and Corporate Strategy. "These cities are experiencing rapid growth and boast thriving internet markets, coupled with stable economies. This strategic positioning ensures we can support the region's flourishing digital landscape.”

Last year, Liberty Networks and Gold Data announced their new subsea cable systems, GD-1 and LN-1, complementing the new Points-of-Presence build. The subsea system was designed to provide two diverse routes with the shortest latency from Mexico to the U.S., offering additional connectivity between critical hubs in Mexico and the U.S. as new routes.

The new Points-of-Presence serve the local markets of Merida and Quetzaltenango and act as a central hub for businesses that require reliable and scalable connections to the United States. This enables companies to connect with a global network of customers and partners, which ultimately fosters international growth.

Liberty Networks is committed to delivering reliable, high-performance connectivity services and solutions. The company continues to connect communities and change lives through network expansion and enhancing connectivity for businesses in the region.
