Gateway Named Top Lender of 2023 by the Texas Veterans Land Board

TULSA, Okla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Gateway Mortgage, a division of Gateway First Bank, was ranked third among the top lenders of 2023 by the Texas Veterans Land Board (TVLB). These annual awards recognize the dedication and hard work of the top five lenders throughout the state.

The VLB Veterans Housing Assistance Program (VHAP) was established to help Texas veterans pursue homeownership. Eligible veterans and military members can purchase a home with a competitive, low-interest loan and little-to-no down payment. TVLB winners are selected based on the number of VHAP loans purchased during the fiscal year.

In addition to lender recognition, the Texas VLB honors the top Loan Originators in Texas. Gateway’s Deborah Huddleston, a Mortgage Sales Manager from Killeen, Texas, was recognized for her efforts to help veterans achieve their dreams of homeownership. “I am honored to have the opportunity to work with so many veterans and do not take the trust they place in me lightly,” said Huddleston. “Being recognized by the Texas Veterans Land Board is just icing on the cake!” Huddleston was ranked 13 among top loan originators for 2023 and has been included in the list for 20 years.”

“We are honored to be recognized by the Texas Veterans Land Board for supporting veterans and current military personnel,” said Gateway President of Mortgage Banking, Steven Plaisance. "It’s exciting to see Deborah’s trajectory of success along with all of Gateway’s Texas-based team members who service VHAP loans.”

In addition to VHAP loans, Gateway offers VA home loans to help servicemen and women realize their dreams of becoming homeowners. Gateway also shows its support and appreciation through its partnership with Folds of Honor. This non-profit organization provides educational scholarships to families of servicemen and women who have fallen or been disabled in combat. For every mortgage loan closed, Gateway donates to Folds of Honor, with over $753,000 given since the partnership began in 2017.
