BJ McAndrews Joins Academy Securities as Managing Director, Head of Securitized Product Sales

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Academy Securities, a registered broker-dealer, certified Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE), and Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), today announced the addition of BJ McAndrews as Managing Director, Head of Securitized Product Sales.

Mr. McAndrews spent 18 years at Wells Fargo Securities building their Structured Products Sales and Trading business. He was Head of the Structured Products Sales Team while remaining a top salesperson covering many of Wells Fargo’s top trading and banking clients. He led the build out of their repo business and was a senior member of the firm’s Managing Director Promotion Committee as well as the recruiting and diverse segments initiatives. His time before Wells Fargo was spent on the buy side of the business managing a Principal Finance trading team at ABN AMRO as well as trading structured credit, high yield, and project finance debt for hedge funds and large banks.

“We are pleased to welcome BJ McAndrews to the team,” stated Academy’s Chairman and CEO Chance Mims. “His product knowledge and experience will add strength to Academy’s growing securitized product platform.”

Mr. McAndrews commented: “I am beyond thrilled and honored to join a company with such an incredible social mission. I look forward to not only leveraging my experience and deep client relationships to help grow the securitized products group, but to pay it forward and mentor our junior talent that has sacrificed so much for this country.”

Mr. McAndrews received a Bachelor of Arts from Montclair State University. He is on the board of several Southeast based charities and enjoys teaching and mentoring others about financial literacy.

“We are excited to expand our mission driven team with a professional like BJ who enhances the value-add proposition to our clients while sharing our passion to provide meaningful careers to our nation’s heroes,” stated Academy’s President Phil McConkey.
