Strive Health Names Eric Van Horn as Advisor

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Strive Health, the national leader in value-based kidney care, announced today that it named veteran healthcare leader Eric Van Horn as Advisor to the company’s executive team. Van Horn will work closely with Strive co-founder and CEO Chris Riopelle as well as the company’s operations, finance and growth teams to help propel Strive forward.

“We are fortunate to add Eric to our leadership team,” Riopelle said. “His extraordinary track record and insight will be valuable assets to Strive as we continue to transform the way we deliver care for patients with chronic kidney disease.”

Van Horn is a co-founder of Landmark Health, which provides in-home care for patients with complex, chronic illnesses. He led Landmark’s growth from launch to 600,000 lives and over $15 billion in revenue. After the sale of Landmark to Optum, Van Horn acted as Chief Growth Officer of Optum's Home & Community division. Prior to Landmark, Van Horn was the Senior Vice President and General Manager of CareMore Health, representing the company’s product-line growth, development and management, profitability, pharmacy and utilization management and network strategy, leading the company through the sale to Anthem.

Van Horn began his career in healthcare economics where he built financial forecasting and reporting tools and was part of the committee that discussed with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) the shift from demographic-based payments to Medicare Advantage payors to the current risk-based system. He also held positions leading network management, product and commercial sales. He received his bachelor’s in Quantitative Economics and Decision Sciences from the University of California, San Diego, and an MBA in Operations from the Anderson School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles. Van Horn has been a professor at the University of California, Irvine, and University of Southern California in the School of Public Health for the past 12 years.

“I’m excited to help Chris and the leadership team build on the impressive growth Strive has already achieved,” Van Horn said. “We share a common goal of striving to improve the way we care for patients with complex needs.”
