Travel Expert Jewels Rhode Shares Summer Travel Essentials to Pack

ATLANTA--()--With Memorial Day weekend marking the official start of the summer season across the country, many are looking forward to jet-setting for getaways and taking some much-needed rest and relaxation. Along with the excitement of being on vacation, also comes the stress leading up to it with having to pack. According to a study by One Poll, 65% of Americans admit to having difficulty when packing and 1 in 5 people ‘always’ realize they forgot to pack something after they’ve arrived. Lifestyle and Travel Expert & Wellness Advocate, Jewels Rhode MPH, offers her tips to help ensure that travelers have the essentials handy while away from home.

“Packing for travel can be stressful, but it is important to make sure you are prepared for all situations while away from home,” shares Rhode. “From staying cool in hot climates to keeping oral health in check, I am sharing a few items I always have with me when I am on a getaway, that will leave you without worry so you can enjoy the moment.”

Rhode recommends gearing up for the summer heat with these carry-on essentials that will help keep you healthy and refreshed:

Protect Skin with a High SPF Sunscreen. It is crucial to protect your skin from the sun’s harsh rays and apply sunscreen daily, reapplying every two hours. I usually recommend using at least 30 SPF, which blocks 97% of the UVB rays. For brands, EltaMD is a dermatologist-favorite and COOLA refreshing water mist with SPF is a good option for sunscreen reapplication daily. Also, many lip balms offer SPF options, so you don’t forget to protect your lips from sun damage.

Make sure to bring a collapsible water bottle. Hydration is key to staying energized and well enough to enjoy your vacation. I suggest drinking 32 ounces of water a day, and collapsible water bottles help meet that goal by also saving space in luggage, reducing carbon footprints, and saving money towards spending on plastic water bottles. Make sure your water bottle is empty before flying and heading through airport security.

Stay clean on the go. On vacation there can be a lot of walking and sweat from exploring new destinations and being outdoors. When there isn’t time to immediately shower, YUNI’s Shower Sheets are perfect to slip in your bag for when you need to freshen up, which deodorize and clean skin from one wipe.

Keep breath fresh. Summertime usually means a lot more in-person interaction with others especially over delicious meals at seaside restaurants or quick bites in between sightseeing so having a proper oral hygiene routine is essential from brushing, flossing, to tongue scraping. I recommend packing floss picks and travel size oral rinses from TheraBreath, which has a variety of options targeting fresh breath, healthy gums, and anti-cavity in your carry on. You won’t have to worry about bad breath and lingering tastes or food in your mouth.

Stay cool with a handheld electronic fan. With summer temperatures averaging 80 to 90 degrees daily in some parts of the world, electronic fans are great for those long excursion days in the heat and can immediately cool down travelers to keep them comfortable but are also easy to pack away.
