JACKSONVILLE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Southeastern Grocers Inc. (SEG), parent company and home of Fresco y Más, Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie grocery stores, is celebrating National Pet Month by raising awareness and support for nearly 400 animal welfare organizations in the Southeast and helping customers save on pet food and supplies all summer long.
Now through May 31, Fresco y Más, Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie customers can purchase a reusable Community Bag with a Giving Tag for $2.99 to help local animals in need while concurrently benefiting the environment by reducing the use of paper and plastic bags. With each purchase of a Community Bag with a Giving Tag, $1 will directly benefit each store’s local animal welfare organization partner.
Raymond Rhee, Chief People Officer for Southeastern Grocers, said, “As a dedicated partner to the communities we serve, we prioritize the needs of our neighbors and put them at the center of every decision we make – this commitment extends to our furry neighbors, too. As an integral part of our families, pets give so much back to our communities, while asking for very little in return. It’s our privilege to support the work of animal welfare organizations in honor of National Pet Month. These organizations are devoted to improving the well-being of animals and promoting responsible pet ownership, and we are proud to contribute to their cause while simultaneously helping create beautiful, cleaner communities.”
Additionally, SEG is donating a total of $15,000 in Whiskers & Tails pet food and supplies to support local animal shelters and rescues, including Jacksonville Humane Society, Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League in West Palm Beach and Lee County Domestic Animal Services. These organizations help provide vital pet aid to families in need and work to keep pets happy and at home.
With a commitment to quality and value, SEG's Own Brand products offer nearly 8,000 items to help customers save an average of 20% compared to national brands, including the grocer’s Whiskers & Tails pet brand. Additionally, Winn-Dixie, Fresco y Más and Harveys Supermarket are helping customers save on groceries by offering deeper discounts on more than 150 most-shopped products as part of the “Down Down” program. Winn-Dixie shoppers will save more than 15% on average when shopping items marked by the red hand on signs and tags throughout the store, which includes pet food, treats and supplies. Similarly, items marked in green and yellow signage at Fresco y Más and Harveys Supermarket are part of the grocers’ “Low Price” and “Low Low Price” programs providing customers with deep, deep discounts, as well.
SEG’s Community Bag with a Giving Tag program has supported more than 8,000 nonprofit organizations and prevented the use of more than 13.5 million single-use plastic bags1 since 2019. The durable and bright reusable bags are made from recycled materials and can be found at the register or near the entrance of each Fresco y Más, Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie store.
