Helical Fusion Co., Ltd. Has Raised USD 6 Million in Seed Round

TOKYO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Helical Fusion Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Takaya Taguchi), which aims to develop a helical fusion reactor, has raised funds for the development of a fusion reactor and related technologies with SBI Investment Co., Ltd. as the lead investor.

Helical Fusion is a fusion company with the vision of "Humanity evolved with nuclear fusion" and aims to be the world's first company to implement steady-state nuclear fusion in society.

Helical fusion adopts the helical method (a type of stellarator), which is one of the most promising magnetic field confinement methods as a commercial fusion reactor and has particularly excellent performance in terms of long-term stable operation and maintenance.

Based on the technology developed over decades at the National Institute for Fusion Science in Japan, Helical Fusion has been privatized and has received seed funding of USD 6 million from Japanese VC and business companies.

We will use this funding to advance the development of a helical fusion reactor and related core technologies (such as high-temperature superconducting magnet and liquid blankets), and will actively collaborate with global funding and R&D partners.

We look forward to hearing from anyone interested in our efforts.
