Cointreau Unveils a Revamped Bottle Design, Marking the Brand’s Biggest Design Shift in Over a Century
Step into a bold new chapter in Cointreau’s story. More evocative but no less iconic, Cointreau changes everything…except its recipe.
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--With its most momentous redesign in nearly 140 years, Cointreau, the essential ingredient at the heart of more than 500 classic cocktails including The Original Margarita and The Cosmopolitan, proudly ushers in a new era for its iconic bottle.
Strikingly different yet still instantly recognizable, the revamped Cointreau bottle is an ode to the brand’s rich history and a celebration of the orange itself. For the first time in Cointreau’s history, the orange – Cointreau’s key ingredient - is given a prime spot on the new label design, along with depictions of the Angers distillery, as a tribute to the brand’s quality & roots.
“We are thrilled to continue taking Cointreau to new heights with the introduction of a redesigned bottle,” said Nicolas Beckers, CEO at Rémy Cointreau Americas. “While the pack has been modernized, it still honors the rich history of the brand, and the iconic liquid inside, that consumers know and love, has remained the same.”
As Cointreau’s rich history continues to evolve, so too does the brand’s commitment to environmental and social responsibility. Cointreau’s commitment can be seen in key actions already taken, including investing in protecting biodiversity and contributing to the health of orange trees, as well as local initiatives at the France distillery including powering the production site with 100% renewable energy since 2017, recycling 100% of annual waste at the distillery, and ensuring 100% of the peel used during distillation is composted. Lastly, the iconic Cointreau bottle is eco-designed and made from up to two thirds recycled glass with no secondary packaging.
The new bottle also includes ergonomic enhancements. The neck has been lengthened for ease of pouring without increasing its weight and the label features a QR code, granting consumers instant access to hundreds of cocktail recipes.
With the new modern design also comes the Cointreau Changes Everything campaign, a celebration of the liqueur’s transformative power, including a range of new assets that represent the versatility of the brand. With its unique aromatic intensity, Cointreau is the ingredient that radically transforms drinks and moments into something memorable. In other words: Cointreau Changes Everything.
