FRESNO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As the agriculture industry collectively works to improve sustainable practices, Netafim USA, a subsidiary of Netafim Ltd., the global leader in precision irrigation solutions, continues to pioneer irrigation solutions with a global impact. The company will spotlight its revolutionary Effluent Subsurface Drip Irrigation (SDI-E) system at the World Ag Expo in Tulare, California, from February 14–16, 2023.
An individual dairy farm can produce over 200,000 pounds of nutrient-rich manure each year. Netafim’s SDI-E system allows dairy farmers to utilize this valuable resource as a natural fertilizer, which significantly reduces input costs, improves their water use efficiency, promotes uniform crop growth, and increases crop production.
Initially designed to help farmers combat drought conditions and promote water conservation, the SDI-E system also offers an unexpected benefit: reduced greenhouse gas emissions. The subsurface injection of dairy effluent directly to the crops roots reduces nitrogen release into the atmosphere. This innovative approach has been proven to cut greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90%.
Netafim, along with project partners Sustainable Conservation, De Jager Dairy, McRee Dairy, and Western United Dairies, received the 2020 U.S. Dairy Sustainability Award for Outstanding Community Impact. In 2022, the project was named the recipient of the Irrigation Association's Vanguard Award.
"The success of the SDI-E system is a testament to the power of collaboration between Netafim USA and some of the most forward-thinking, innovative minds in agriculture today. We have a responsibility to develop solutions that positively impact the environment and mitigate climate change. Sustainable agriculture is in our company’s DNA," said Mike Hemman, President and CEO of Netafim USA. “We’re extremely encouraged and excited to see so many organizations take interest and explore opportunities to utilize our SDI-E technology. This innovation enables operational efficiency, sustainability, and increased profitability. We are proud to showcase its capabilities at the World Ag Expo, the most prestigious agricultural exhibition in the world.”
Show attendees can visit Netafim at North Exhibit booths K48 and L47 and explore the company’s lineup of precision irrigation solutions on display.
