GeoLinks Receives First RDOF Distribution From FCC

GeoLinks has formally received the first distribution of The Federal Communications Commission’s Rural Digital Opportunity Fund to Close the Digital Divide

CAMARILLO, Calif.--()--GeoLinks, an award-winning enterprise telecommunications company headquartered in southern California, officially received its first distribution of The Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF) on November 29, 2022. The funding, designed to expand broadband in unserved and underserved rural areas across the United States, will enable GeoLinks to officially begin network planning and deployment to designated rural locations across Arizona and Nevada.

Named a RDOF provisional winner in 2020, GeoLinks was officially fully authorized in October of 2022. Having now received its first funding distribution – the first installment of a total $84.6 Million to be paid out over a ten-year period – the company is currently working on equipment acquisition, construction permits, community outreach, and deployment timelines to ensure GeoLinks meets its mandated RDOF milestones.

“Building on the success that we have seen here in California for over a decade, we are excited to be further expanding into neighboring states Arizona and Nevada who are equally passionate and committed to bridging the digital divide,” said GeoLinks President Ryan Adams. “When you bring connectivity you bring opportunity to these communities, improve digital literacy, digital skills democracy, social mobility, economic equality, and economic growth.”

Since inception, GeoLinks has been both uniquely capable and committed to deploying broadband solutions to both urban and rural areas. Today, GeoLinks is on the forefront of connecting rural schools and libraries in California, has secured nearly $88M in funding through the FCC's Connect America Fund Phase II Auction, and continues to forge creative public-private partnerships to service even more areas.

GeoLinks aims to formalize its RDOF deployment schedule by Q2 2023, and plans to break ground on multiple Census Block Groups by the end of year.
