BerdingWeil Adds Three McKeon Sheldon Partners to Expand Practice in Hawaii

Construction Defect Firm Gains 75 Years of Hawaii Law Experience

WAILUKU, Hawaii--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BerdingWeil, the largest and most experienced construction defect and common interest development law firm in California, today announced the expansion of their practice in Hawaii with the addition of three partners from the former McKeon Sheldon Mehling (MSM) law firm. After 15 years of collaboration with BerdingWeil on Hawaii construction defect litigation, William McKeon, Shannon Sheldon and Rebecca Filipovic will be joining the BerdingWeil law firm as partners effective September 1, 2022.

“For years, BerdingWeil has consulted with MSM regarding Hawaiian construction defect cases, and I’m pleased to officially announce the joining of three well respected MSM partners to our firm,” BerdingWeil Principal Tyler Berding said. “Altogether, our new and existing Hawaii team will offer 75 years of expertise concerning construction defect, real estate, insurance and homeowner association law for the state of Hawaii.”

McKeon, a Best Lawyers awardee in Hawaii for construction defect litigation, brings 38 years of successful trial and arbitration experience throughout the state to BerdingWeil’s construction litigation team. Sheldon, president of the Hawaii State Bar Association, serves as general counsel to over 200 condominium and homeowner associations across the state of Hawaii, and will lead BerdingWeil’s general counsel practice. Filipovic, president of the Community Council of Maui, will continue to specialize in construction defect litigation, arbitration and mediation. In addition, attorney Kelly LaPrade brings her experience to the firm’s general counsel practice. These attorneys and their support staff will be joining the BerdingWeil Hawaii practice, which includes attorney Kyle Pineo.

“We have the greatest respect for all the talented and successful attorneys at BerdingWeil. We have worked so closely with Tyler Berding and his partners, that for years we have joked about being BerdingWeil’s Hawaii office,” McKeon said. “We are excited about this union and the tremendous opportunity for our Hawaii clients to draw further upon BerdingWeil’s resources and experience in construction defect litigation and construction law, community general practice, and business litigation.”
