VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--STEMCELL Technologies, Canada’s largest biotechnology company, announced today that it has received ISO 14001:2015 certification of its Environmental Management System at its Canadian operations in Vancouver, BC.
STEMCELL’s now-certified Environmental Management System will enable the company to monitor, measure, analyze, and evaluate its environmental performance.
“As global citizens, all of us at STEMCELL understand we have an important role to play in addressing climate change and protecting the planet to help create a better, healthier future for everyone,” said Dr. Allen Eaves, STEMCELL’s President and CEO. “With this ISO 14001 certification, our customers and communities can have complete confidence that we are operating in accordance with best environmental management practices when creating and offering our best-in-class products and services for scientific research.”
The ISO 14001 certification—which applies to STEMCELL’s manufacturing, shipping, research and development, and head office facilities—is voluntary and confirms STEMCELL’s shared commitment to environmental stewardship through improving processes and procedures to reduce waste and lower carbon output.
The evaluation and audit of STEMCELL’s Environmental Management System was independently conducted by DEKRA, an internationally recognized authority that assesses environmental management systems for ISO 14001 certification.
“This achievement is only the beginning,” said Dr. Eaves.“We will build upon this momentum to go even further to embed sustainability practices into every aspect of our business and continue to improve our environmental performance now and into the future.”
