University of Phoenix President George Burnett Joins PHX East Valley Partnership 40th Anniversary Event

University serves as presenting sponsor with Burnett providing insights on talent pool development and upskilling the local workforce

PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--University of Phoenix president George Burnett joined the annual meeting of the PHX East Valley Partnership, an event dedicated to honoring 40 years of the organization, “Then, Now and the Next 40: Celebrating a Spirit of Collaboration,” held Tuesday, May 10, at the Mesa Community College Performing Arts Center in Mesa, AZ, with the University serving as a presenting sponsor.

The milestone event of the PHX East Valley Partnership, a coalition of civic, business, education, health care and political leaders dedicated to the economic development and promotion of the PHX East Valley cities, towns and Native American communities, features opening remarks by Burnett and panel discussion with leaders in the community. The event attracts hundreds of business executives, public policymakers and community leaders from across the region.

“Stabilizing the American workforce on the other side of this life-changing pandemic will require a rethinking of the employer/employee relationship, and a reimagining of how we prepare and continue to upskill and reskill the workforce through education,” stated Burnett. “It will require education and business working together, just as we are today, to design a path of life-long learning and training in order for both the employer and the employee to remain relevant, competitive and successful.”

The dynamic PHX East Valley region attracts a wide range of manufacturers, autonomous and electric vehicle companies, and creative small businesses and entrepreneurial ventures. The population in the region is expected to grow from about 1.4 million to more than 1.6 million by 2030. Panelists at the event will discuss the role of collaborative communities, the business environment, building the local talent pool, providing essential services for and enriching the lives of residents, and areas of opportunity and challenge.
