Si-Yo Music Society Foundation Chairwoman and President Steps Down

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Si-Yo Music Society Foundation, Inc. announced today that Eva Lerner-Lam will be stepping down from her roles as chairwoman and president, effective April 1, 2022. Lerner-Lam served the organization in two roles that spanned 34 years, taking over the role of chair in 1988—after the passing of her father, Sau-Wing Lam, who co-founded the organization in 1966 alongside her mother, Jean L. Lam—and the role of president in 2013.

During Lerner-Lam’s tenure, Si-Yo built an international roster of more than 60 Si-Yo Artists™, conducted musical outreach and education events, created a fine instrument registry and musical instrument identification card system, and collaborated with Si-Yo Arts Partners™ to provide unique opportunities for artists to connect with people from all over the world and from all walks of life.

“It has been an honor to be part of an exemplary team of professionals as well as to be introduced to extraordinary musicians who build meaningful relationships with listeners through their music,” said Lerner-Lam. “I’m proud of our collective accomplishments and look forward to supporting the organization in other ways.”

Si-Yo will pause its artistic and outreach initiatives to focus on the search for a new chair and president.

Trustee Karen Neus said, “We thank Eva for her devoted service and visionary leadership, and wish her the best of success in her future endeavors.”

“It has been a pleasure to serve under Eva’s stewardship,” said Robert O’Brien, executive director. “We look forward to finding someone who can continue the legacy of inspiration through classical music that began with her parents more than half a century ago.”
