TNS Launches TDM Link Replacement Service Helping Carriers Reduce OPEX Costs and Achieve STIR/SHAKEN Compliance

RESTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Transaction Network Services (TNS) has today launched its new managed TDM Link Replacement Service (TLR) which enables carriers to successfully convert SS7 signaling protocols to SIGTRAN, eliminating end of life TDM circuits and delivering a more robust IP-based circuit path.

TLR will also support conversion of Integrated Services Digital Network User Part (ISUP) to Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). ISUP is the protocol used to support the signaling necessary to provide voice and non-voice services in telephone communications. SIP is the protocol required to support STIR/SHAKEN, which is the new digital authentication standard aimed to mitigate robocall spoofing. STIR/SHAKEN is a digital certificate to the SIP information used to initiate and route calls in VoIP systems and will assist carriers with achieving TRACED Act compliance.

“Many Tier 2 and Tier 3 carriers are still faced with the risky, costly and complex migration to IP-based connectivity solutions to replace their legacy TDM equipment,” said Bill Versen, TNS’ President, Communications Market. “Deploying our new TLR solution enables them to keep their legacy equipment and also delay changing their network to full IP, yet still achieve STIR/SHAKEN compliance with Call Guardian, our leading analytics and call verification system.”

The TLR solution consists of a minimum of two TLR gateways at each customer site which are monitored and managed by the TNS Operations Team with 24/7 support. Full fail over and redundancy are also components of the solution helping to eliminate operational risks.

“As an organization TNS is dedicated to helping carriers with their strategic approaches to fulfil their IP upgrade requirements,” added Versen. “This flexible and scalable TLR managed service can be tailored to individual carrier needs to help mitigate ongoing cost increases for TDM links, providing a cost-effective solution before critical equipment reaches end of life.”
