BioSpace Announces Top New Biopharma Companies to Watch in 2022

DES MOINES, Iowa--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BioSpace, Inc., the leading life sciences news and careers site, has announced their selections for the industry’s most exciting up-and-coming companies in 2022.

For the past eight years, BioSpace has been highlighting the most innovative new biopharma companies from across the U.S. The NextGen Bio list strives to showcase organizations on their way to success.

Topping the NextGen Bio “Class of 2022” list is SomaLogic Inc., having raised a $214 million Series A in late 2020 and gone public through a SPAC merger with CM Life Sciences II in March 2021. After two decades in proteomics, SomaLogic has expanded rapidly in the last year to a workforce of 283 employees.

Organizations across all therapeutic areas are considered. Top five organizations Umoja Biopharma, Eikon Therapeutics, Dyno Therapeutics and LEXEO Therapeutics hail from immunotherapy, proteomics, AI and gene therapy.

“There is so much innovation taking place in this industry, it’s a thrill to be able highlight companies that will have an impact on public health in the future,” said Josh Goodwin, CEO of BioSpace.

BioSpace’s editorial team analyzed multiple components as determining factors: finance, collaborations, pipeline, growth potential and innovation. Points are awarded for each criteria and companies ranked accordingly. This year’s list includes top-scoring organizations that launched between September 2020 and September 2021 with a Series A funding.

Previous NextGen selections include success stories such as Sana Biotechnology, Juno Therapeutics, Werewolf Therapeutics, Omega Therapeutics, Century Therapeutics and MyoKardia.
